Dr. Thomas Shepherd

I’m Dr. Shepherd, a proud Georgia native who discovered my love for dentistry while studying at Berry College. After earning my undergraduate degree, I went on to graduate cum laude with distinction in research from the Dental College of Georgia, where I received my Doctorate of Medicine in Dentistry. I then completed a General Practice Residency in Augusta, where I gained advanced training in IV sedation, dental implants, extractions, bone grafting, and caring for patients with complex medical needs.

Making Every Patient Feel at Ease

I believe dentistry is about so much more than teeth—it’s about people. My goal is always to make patients feel comfortable, cared for, and confident about their dental health. I especially enjoy performing dental implants, wisdom tooth extractions, sedation dentistry, dentures, crowns and bridges, and supporting patients with special needs.

I’m passionate about staying on the cutting edge of dentistry, constantly expanding my skills so I can provide the best care possible. Oral surgery has always been an area I love, and I take pride in helping patients feel at ease during even the most complex treatments.

Life Outside the Office

My wife, Olivia, and I met at Berry College, and we chose Rome as our home because we love its welcoming community and small-town charm. Outside of dentistry, I enjoy camping, cooking, traveling, and playing basketball. Most of all, I love spending time with Olivia and exploring new adventures together.
